The worm inside me

Three weeks ago as I was showering and shaving my legs, I noticed this red spot on the back side of my lower leg.  It was a pretty good sized red circle. My first thought was that maybe some little critter had bit me as I was sleeping. I showed it to my boyfriend, and he thought it was a spider bite as well. So yesterday I caught the culprit, who was hiding behind my wooden chest, and vacuumed that sucker up because I didn't want to be bitten again. Well, this morning, as I was showering at freakin' 6:00 am in the morning, I noticed that the red circle was still there. And then it hit me. Maybe it isn't a spider bite. The red circle looks exactly the same as it did three weeks ago and I mean, do spider bite marks last that long??? 3 weeks...without changing?? So I thought back on my Microbiology class were we learned about microbes, fungi, poop and all that good stuff and remembered a picture that looked exactly the same as what I had on my leg. I went to WebMd, looked up some pictures, read some, and after all that, my diagnosis is that I HAVE RINGWORM!!!!

This is exactly what it looks like except maybe not so thick or scabby.
I would take a picture of my leg but my camera has no battery and is charging.

Going to the doctor to confirm my suspicion would be too expensive since I don't have health insurance. But ringworm is treated with an anti-fungal cream that you can get at any store and that's exactly what I'm going to do. I'll keep you updated.

Have any of you had ringworm before?

  4. @Mandy Haha I guess I am, or maybe it's just the nurse-to-be in me. ;)

@Susi Yes, it is harmless but i promise it doesn't look that scary. it's pretty small.

@Chelsea Elizabeth Thanks! I hope so too! And i'm a little glad to hear that I'm there's many who've had it. I just wonder how I got it. Maybe because it's boot season... who knows.
